One of our most popular products, Pioneer's Porridge wholesome mixture of white grits, yellow grits, cracked wheat, & whole rice. To the samples we serve at our mill, we add a small amount of butter, white & brown sugar. We also suggest adding one or more of the following: honey, raisins, nuts, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, sliced bananas, cinnamon, nutmeg, apple pie spice, & fresh cream. Apple juice can also be substituted for the water in the basic recipe . . delicious. Porridge also is perfect for a side dish to chicken, pork chops, roast beef, and more. Just add butter and season & serve as you would rice. You can also substitute chicken stock when cooking for even more flavor.
